About TRDF

The Tanzania Rural Development Forum (abbriviated as TRDF) is a non-governmental, non-partisan organization that is registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of 2002 (Act No. 24) with registration No. 00NGO/R/5274 in Tanzania Mainland.

TRDF distinguishes itself through its tailored approach to address the specific needs of rural communities, particularly focusing on women and youth. Unlike generic development initiatives, TRDF prioritizes grassroots engagement, ensuring local voices are heard and incorporated into policy and program design. Its uniqueness lies in fostering inclusive participation, empowering marginalized groups through capacity building, and promoting sustainable solutions tailored to the diverse needs of rural populations.

TRDF’s emphasis on gender and generational equity fosters holistic development by acknowledging women and youth’s pivotal roles in driving rural development.

Strategic objectives

In working towards achieving our vision, mission, goal, and focus on six strategic objectives namely;

To create a platform for stakeholders’ information sharing, policy dialogue, research, best practices, and fostering collaboration for achieving a sustainable rural development agenda.
To strengthen the agency’s ability to eliminate gender-based violence in rural areas through the provision of legal aid and economic empowerment for women and youth.
To advocate for improved access to reproductive health for women and youth in rural areas.
To promote political and civic empowerment of women and youth participation in decision-making structures and leadership roles in rural areas.
To promote transparency and accountability over public resources in health, education, agriculture, and natural resources for the promotion of rural development.
To empower women and youth to actively participate in and benefit from climate resilience and mitigation efforts, fosteringenvironmental sustainability, and economic development in rural areas.
