TRDF at #ARFSD2025: Advocating for Rural Inclusion in Africa’s Sustainable Development

The Tanzania Rural Development Forum (TRDF) proudly participated in the 2025 Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (#ARFSD2025), held in Kampala, Uganda, from April 9 to 11. With a steadfast commitment to amplifying rural voices, TRDF ensured that Africa’s sustainable development agenda reflected the realities and needs of rural communities.

Our Executive Director, *Nuru Maro, contributed to three impactful panels hosted by the **African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD), **Akina Mama wa Afrika, and the *South African Local Government Association (SALGA). During these sessions, key discussions took center stage, tackling issues crucial to the future of rural communities:

  • The debt crisis and its impact on rural communities – calling for reparative justice and debt reforms to unlock public investment in health, education, and agriculture.
  • The urgent need for a UN Tax Convention that reclaims Africa’s stolen revenues and redirects them to community-driven development.
  • The importance of rural inclusion in SDG monitoring and Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) highlighting that real progress happens when both urban and rural realities are accounted for.

TRDF remains committed to ensuring no village, farmer, or child is left behind.
